I meant for this post to go up, oh, a couple of weeks ago? Boy time gets away…
Anyway…. it is official. I am published!
This is my first ‘real’ foot in the door. This is nothing from my hometown or from high school or college… but a real publication, in print, for sale.
I entered a few pieces into the Little Red Tree International Poetry Prize back in October 2011. I did not place in the 7 officially recognized top places, but I was one of 17 other poets whose work was chosen for publication in addition to work from Little Red Tree’s current authors.
I feel very honored to have had my work chosen for the anthology, and I can say that my emails with Michael Linnard, editor of the anthology and CEO of the press, were some of the most pleasant and easy conversations I’ve had in my few dealings with the publishing industry. He was always quick to respond to all of my questions and easy to work with. That alone increased my respect for the press itself.
I received my copy on December 31st… talk about a great way to end the year!
The anthology is available directly through the Little Red Tree Publishing website as well as through Amazon. I do not receive any compensation from these sales, but if you are so inclined it would be nice to see the press supported.
This has certainly boosted my confidence to keep working, keep writing, and keep submitting! At the very least it is confirmation to me that at least *some* of my work doesn’t suck.
Here’s hoping to get another piece accepted somewhere in 2013!
